Welterweight contender Robert Guerrero was arrested this morning at John F. Kennedy Airport in New York City for allegedly having a gun with him, according to a report by the New York Daily News.
The article cited an anonymous law enforcement source.
“Charges were pending,” the article said.
The New York Post, also citing anonymous sources, said Guerrero will be “charged with criminal possession of a weapon.”
“Sources say that Guerrero went to the Delta ticket counter in Terminal 2 and declared the gun to the ticket agent,” the Post article said. “As required by law, the agent called the Port Authority Police. Sources say that Guerrero's gun is legally registered in the state of California but he is not licensed to carry the weapon in New York. The gun was not loaded at the time of his arrest.”
Online court records did not yet show any charges for Guerrero as of about 1:45 p.m. ET on Thursday.
Guerrero, 30, has been in New York promoting his upcoming May 4 pay-per-view fight with Floyd Mayweather.
He last fought in November, when he topped Andre Berto via 12-round decision to raise his record to 31-1-1 with 18 knockouts and 2 “no decisions.”
