George Groves is questioning the confidence level of promoter Eddie Hearn, who wants to get Groves in the ring for a rematch with Olympic gold medal winner James DeGale. A few years ago, Groves defeated DeGale by way of a close decision.

Both fighters are mandatory challengers to world titles at super middleweight. Groves is the mandatory to WBC champion Anthony Dirrell. And DeGale is in line to face brother Andre Dirrell for the vacant IBF title which Carl Froch vacated last week.

Groves claims Hearn is now pushing on him to rematch DeGale because he doesn't feel too confident of his fighter being capable of beating Dirrell. Hearn is targeting April 25th in the UK for DeGale-Dirrell, but he's very interested in making a big stadium fight between DeGale and Groves, who is promoted by Sauerland Event.

"I've taken a lot of time getting into this position so why should I give up to take small change and take the short hand fighting DeGale now. This fight is always on the table and if they make an offer I couldn't refuse, then I'd be much more interested," Groves said to Sky Sports News.

"Eddie needs a star attraction to fill dates. James DeGale needs a dance partner. If he does fight Andre Dirrell he probably isn't very confident of winning that fight because he could lose and not make any money out it. But if he boxes me he can lose and make a few quid. I understand his logic. We've got an April fight in mind because I don't want to get caught off guard - in fact I've been bashing up southpaws this week."
