It's official, former light heavyweight champion Danny Green has announced his return to the ring for a big money rematch with Australian rival Anthony Mundine, set to take place within twelve months. Green said the fight would have to take place in Perth, and light heavyweight. Mundine recently moved down to middleweight after two title runs at 168-pounds.
Green retired last March, but Mundine and his team have been knocking on his door for a rematch since the announcement. The offer presented by Mundine's team is worth a few million dollars - too big for Green to pass up. Green plans to take 1 to 3 tuneup fights to get into form before taking on a rematch with Mundine.
In 2006, Mundine won a decision over Green in what is considered the biggest fight in Australian boxing history. Over 30,000 fans packed the Sydney Football Stadium to watch the fight. Most expect the rematch to be bigger.
