Adrian Granados has always respected Danny Garcia.

Porter (28-2-1, 17 KOs), who’ll fight Garcia for the vacant WBC welterweight title September 8 at Barclays Center, defeated Granados (18-6-2, 12 KOs, 1 NC) by unanimous decision in their 12-rounder November 4.

“I never had anything bad to say about Danny Garcia,” Granados told BoxingScene.com.

“I never had anything to say about him, nothing against him. We’re both fighters and that’s it. But he just keeps dropping my name, saying Shawn was supposed to stop me. And I’m like, ‘Yo, I just wanna make it clear no one has ever stopped me.’ And I’ll be damned if Danny Garcia would ever stop me. I know the welterweight division is loaded and I can fight any of those guys. I don’t think any of those guys would stop me. I think I’d give any of the welterweights trouble.”

Granados, who turned 29 on Tuesday, would like to remain at 140 pounds because the Chicago-based contender wants a title shot in the super lightweight/junior welterweight division. That’s why he turned down an opportunity to fight Jessie Vargas in a welterweight bout October 6 at Wintrust Arena in Chicago.

Granados would make an exception to fight Garcia (34-1, 20 KOs) whether he wins or loses against Porter next month.

“Danny could come get it, too,” Granados said. “I know he wouldn’t be able to stop me and he’d be lucky to beat me. I know I could beat Danny Garcia. I think the Mauricio Herrera fight, he lost. If we were to fight, I think he’d probably need a gift decision or probably help from the referee.

“I would love to fight with him. Even in his days at 140, I wanted a shot at him, too. I was never one to call him a cherry-picker or anything like that, but I do feel he was definitely protected a lot more in his career and I would like to see how he’d come out fighting the fighters I’ve had to go through in my career.”
