WBO No. 4 and OPBF No.1 ranked Z “The Dream” Gorres has sparred with WBC No.1 super flyweight contender Jose Navarro at the Wild Card Gym of Freddie Roach and according to Filipino trainer Editor “Ala” Villamor looked good.

WBO Asia Pacific junior lightweight champion Czar Amonsot also sparred six rounds with Mike Franco and impressed Roach who said the southpaw is growing in confidence and improving day by day.

Gorres will be featured in the main event of a fight card at the Orleans Hotel and
Casino in Las Vegas  when he  battles Mexican Alfredo Tirado while Amonsot takes on  Antonio Wong , a hard-hitting Mexican with a record of seven knockouts in eleven wins in a supporting eight round bout.

Also working out at the Wild Card in preparation for his next fight in the US is WBO Asia Pacific bantamweight champion Rey “Boom Boom” Bautista.

Villamor reported that Gorres has been sparring regularly with WBC light flyweight champion Brian Viloria who will make the first defense of his title against former champion Jose Antonio Aguirre in mid-February. Villamor said both Gorres and Amonsot “are now in top shape.”

Gorres and Amonsot will drive with well known boxing man Michael Koncz to Las Vegas on Sunday where they will meet up with Cebu boxing promoter and manager Sammy Gello-ani and former Liloan resident Tony Martin who was trainer at the JMP stable in Cebu. Martin will assist Roach and Villamor in the corner when the two ALA boys Gorres and Amonsot fight.

Koncz who manages world rated flyweight Diosdado “Prince” Gabi and who was instrumental in getting crucial initial  fights that established the credentials of Bobby Pacquiao, Bautista and Gabi has been working hard to ensure the success of the Filipino boxers.
