THE triumphant Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) super flyweight champion Z Gorres is expected to arrive today in Manila, after scoring another impressive victory in the United States over the weekend.

Gorres, a 24-year old quick-punching fighter, left Los Angeles, California around 10 pm on May 29 (Tuesday morning, Manila time) on board a Philippine Airlines.

Promoter Sammy Gello-ani and ALA Gym’s chief trainer Edito Villamor accompany Gorres, who is fresh from scoring a shutout unanimous decision win over the durable Pedron Rincon Miranda of Colombia.

The one-sided victory of the Mandaue-native stylish fighter was a part of Golden Boy Promotions’ installation on the undercard at the Home Depot in Carson City, California where two World Boxing Organization (WBO) championship fights headlined the event.

Gorres admitted before leaving, he misses his family in Mandaue City after a quite a stay in the States in preparation for his third appearance before American public.

The 5-foot-4 fighter, who did the final training under living legend Freddie Roach at the Wild Card Gym in Hollywood, added that he dedicated his victory with his family and also shares it with his benefactors, people of Ala Gym in Cebu City and his supporters.

Gorres, ranked No. 2 by the WBO, has 24 wins, one loss and a draw with 12 knockouts after his victory over Miranda, whom he floored in rounds one, five and 10.

Gorres made his US debut a memorable one, knocking out fellow Filipino prospect Glenn "Filipino Bomber" Donaire in round one on March 19 last year at MGM Grand and taking a unanimous decision win in 10 rounds over Jose Alfredo Tirado on February 3 at the Orleans Casino, both bouts were held in Las Vegas.
