OPBF super flyweight champion Z “The Dream” Gorres hopes to keep his winning streak going when he battles Colombia’s Pedro Rincon Miranda at the Home Depot Center in Carson City tomorrow.

Gorres is featured on the undercard of the WBO bantamweight title fight between Johnny Gonzalez and Fernando Montiel and is expected to follow the blazing trail set by Filipino ring idol Manny Pacquiao and the latest ring sensation, undefeated 19 year old WBO Asia Pacific bantamweight champion Rey “Boom Boom” Bautista.

Gorres steps into the ring one week after Bautista demolished Nicaragua’s Roberto Bonilla in three rounds at the Staples Center and all reports from the Wild Card Gym of celebrated trainer Freddie Roach indicate that Gorres has been in great shape and has looked impressive in sparring.

The flashy southpaw has a record of 23-1-1 with 12 knockouts. His opponent, Miranda, has a record of 30-10-2 with 25 knockouts and stepped in as a replacement for Jose Laureano whose comeback after nearly four years prompted the California State Athletic Commission to disallow the bout forcing Golden Boy Promotions to replace Laureano with Miranda.

Well known manager and promoter  Sammy Gello-ani told Viva Sports/Manila Standard Today in an overseas telephone conversation that Gorres was “in great shape and had done well in sparring” against such touted fighters as IBF super bantamweight champion Israel Vasquez, WBO super bantamweight champion Daniel Ponce De Leon and former  flyweight challenger Jose Navarro.
