Oriental Pacific Boxing Federation No. 1 super flyweight Z "The Dream" Gorres arrived in Las Vegas along with former WBC super flyweight champion Gerry Penalosa early this morning not knowing whom he would ultimately fight in a ten round bout on the supporting card of the Pacquiao-Morales showdown on Saturday. One by one his scheduled opponents fell by the wayside. The latest being Reynaldo Hurtado of Colombia who turned to out to be 38 years old prompting the authorities to rule him out  despite his decent record.

Gorres learned this morning that his opponent would be Alejandor "Good Boy" Montiel who despite his monicker is actually 33 years old and no longer a boy. The orthodox fighter has a record of 47-7 with 27 knockouts and battled Irene Pacheco for the IBF flyweight title on November 29, 2002, losing a twelve round decision.

However, in his last  fight Montiel suffered a sixth round TKO at the hands of tough Johnny Gonzalez in a WBO NABO bantamweight title fight. Gorres said he was "fit and ready" after training  for more than a month at the gym of 2002 "Trainer of the Year" Buddy McGirt, the former two-division world champion in Orlando, Florida  and was looking forward to his US debut no matter who he fought.

Gorres' managing partner, WBC founding secretary general Rudy Salud cancelled his trip to Las Vegas but Tony Aldeguer, the well known Cebu boxing patron was scheduled to arrive from Los Angeles with trainer Edito Villamor today. Villamor will work Gorres' corner with McGirt who is also scheduled to plane in later today.
