Trainer Joe Goossen of the Goossen Gym in Van Nuys offered his thoughts on the May 7 bout between Manny Pacquiao (52-3-2, 38 knockouts) and Shane Mosley (46-6-1, 39 KOs). Mosley will be the challenger in the Top Rank Promotions, Showtime televised showdown with WBO welterweight (147pounds) and WBC junior middleweight (154 pounds) king Pacquiao, whose WBO crown will be on the line.
Goossen believes Mosley can trouble Pacquiao if he concentrates on the body during the contest. Antonio Margarito was able to hurt Pacquiao to the body in the sixth round of their November fight. Pacquiao dominated the rest of the way and won a bruising twelve round decision.
"Mosley can be in this fight very easy," Goossen told FanHouse. "I think he's going to have a lot more head movement than Margarito. I think his hand speed is going to be faster than Margarito. One of the punches that really worked for Margarito is one of Shane's best punches...the left hook to the liver. I worked with Shane, and he has one of the strongest liver shots that I ever felt, trust me," Goossen said.
