According to overseas reports, the bout between former champion Jhonny Gonzalez (40-6, 34KOs) and WBC super bantamweight champion Toshiaki Nishioka (33-4, 20KOs) is heading to the month of May in Mexico. Gonzalez's team would like the fight to take place in Mexico City.

Since being knocked out by Gerry Penalosa in August 2007, he moved up in weight and won six in a row and five of those win by knockout. Nishioka won the interim-title and later became the full champion after the WBC stripped the injured Israel Vazquez and named him "Champion Emeritus."

Nishioka has been undefeated since March 2004. He won ten fights in a row since, including five of his last six coming by way of knockout.
