Mexico's Israel Gonzalez is preparing himself intensely to secure the biggest victory of his career, on February 3, when he will aim to crown himself as a world champion.
The fight will take place in Corpus Christi, Texas, where Gonzalez will challenge the Filipino Jerwin Ancajas for the super flyweight title of the International Boxing Federation (IBF).
Gonzalez is receiving a lot of support back home to travel back to Mexico with the world title.
Gonzalez is less than a month away from the most important fight of his career.
He will step in there with a professional record of 21-1 and eight knockouts, and right now he's training at the high altitude camp in Jiquipilco, Mexico - near the Otomi Ceremonial Center, to arrive in the best possible physical shape.
"My dream is to become the first world champion of Cabo San Lucas. I'm ready to shine ... it's my time and I'm not going to waste it," said the boxer.
Ancajas has made three defenses of the title and will come in there as a big favorite to get the victory against Gonzalez, who is managed by HéctorSánchezArredondo and trained by Adalberto "Condor" Sánchez, who highlighted the quality of the Asian, but assured that the preparation and discipline of Gonzalez will be vital to get the win.
"The commitment that Israel has will not be easy, because he will go against a complicated and left-handed opponent. Two years ago I had the opportunity to see Jerwin fight in Macao and since then I have followed him closely and I see some very good possibilities to beat him. The dedication and discipline of Israel González will be the key to success," concluded his trainer.
Their fight will be part of the undercard that features another televised world title fight, when Gilberto "Zurdo" Ramírez and the Ghanaian contender Habib Ahmed will collide in the ring for the Mexican boxer's super middleweight title of the World Boxing Organization (WBO).
