A major snag is standing in the way of the Mexican showdown between WBC featherweight champion Jhonny Gonzalez and four division beltholder Jorge 'Travieso' Arce.

The biggest hurdle to overcome was the television deal. Arce fights exclusively on TV Azteca and Gonzalez appears on rival network Televisa.

An agreement was proposed where both networks would air the fight at the same time.

While initially it appeared that both networks would be on board, it now appears that TV Azteca has no interest in sharing the broadcast rights with Televisa.

The television issue is so severe that Gonzalez's promoter, Osvaldo Küchle, has already met with Pepe Gomez of Cancun Boxing to discuss a fight with Cristian 'Diamante' Mijares for October 4th in Cancun.

"Well the chances [of the Arce fight taking place] are running out. Last night I met with Pepe Gomez to discuss a possible fight between Jhonny Gonzalez and Cristian Mijares for the first Saturday in October in Cancun," Küchle said.
