Uvais Baysangurov, an uncle of former WBO light middleweight champion Zaurbek Baysangurov, moved forward as a promoter tonight, staging a small event in the city of Rovno, Ukraine - the first case of prizefighting in this area for the last fourteen years.
Non-surprisingly, taking part in the competition were two Uvai's sons - Khasan and Khussein, both WBO Youth champions and both fighting Georgian trialhorses in non-title affairs. It took 21-year old welterweight Khussein (6-0, 4 KOs) five rounds to get the rid of Anbrosi Sutidze (10-5-4, 5 KOs). Sutidze was stopped for the first time in his career. Meanwhile, 18-year old light middleweight Khasan (11-0, 4 KOs) had to work much harder to outpoint previously undefeated Sandro Jajanidze (5-1, 5 KOs) unanimously over six with very close scores: 58-56, 58-56, and 58-57.
The star of the night was, however, another man. Welterweight prospect Valentyn Golovko (22-1, 15 KOs) came back into the winning column with the third-round stoppage of hugely overmatched compatriot Pavel Petrov (2-3, 1 KO) in a bid for a vacant national title. Golovko was coming off a majority decision loss to former lightweight title challenger Jerry Belmontes just a month ago.
Finally, long-travelled journeyman Bogdan Protsyshyn (8-12, 3 KOs) halted his eight-fight losig streak and got his first career win since March 2012 with the second-round stoppage of Bogdan Zemlyaniy (0-2).
