If it were up to Gennady "GGG" Golokvin and K2 Promotions, their next fight will be a unification bout against WBO middleweight belt-holder Billy Joe Saunders on April 23rd at the Madison Square Garden in New York.
Last week, Tom Loeffler stated that they had sent an offer to Saunders through his promoter Frank Warren.
"We're just waiting for the response to the offer at this point,"said Loeffler to BoxingScene.com.
"Supposedly Frank is going to have a response for us next week."
Loeffler says there will be no face-to-face meetings with Warren because - "We can just as easily work out a deal by phone or by email."
As for any firm deadline, Loeffler explained,"There's no deadline to put on it but at some point we have to get some type of a response and then go from there because we have a few different arenas on hold and so at some point we need to move forward or confirm who the opponent is going to be."
Saunders(23-0, 12 KO's) out-pointed Andy Lee in a rather dull affair on December 19th in Manchester, England to win his title.
Loeffler said that a Golovkin-Saunders bout would take place in New York but added - "We have venues on hold in L.A. and Texas."
While Golovkin (34-0, 31KOs) has firmly established himself as a draw in Los Angeles and New York, 'the Lone Star' state would be a new frontier for him.
"Ever since our trip to Texas (back in November) there's been an extreme amount of interest from the arena's to bring Gennady to Texas," explained Loeffler.
