Undefeated Maurice Hooker (18-0-2, 14KOs) gets his toughest test to date on a very big stage.
Hooker will stake his record and his vacant NABO super lightweight world title against Ghislain Maduma (17-1, 11KOs) on the Gennady Golovkin vs. David Lemieux undercard on October 17th at New York's Madison Square Garden. HBO Pay-Per-View will carry the event.
Hooker has been back to his knockouts since going to an eight round draw with unbeaten Abel Ramos last January in a ShoBox bout. He's knocked out fibe of his last six opponents.
Maduma is tough fighter. Last May he went to way with Kevin Mitchell in an IBF final eliminator. Mitchell won with an eleventh round knockout and he was ahead on all three scorecards at the time of the knockout loss. Mitchell was technically overweight after failing the IBF's overnight weighin, coming in two pounds beydon the ten pound limit.
Maduma came back in June to get a sixth round knockout win in his home of Canada.
