Nicaraguan Roman "Chocolatito 'Gonzalez is ready to defend his WBC flyweight crown at Madison Square Garden in New York City, as the HBO Pay-Per-View co-featured fight to the middleweight unification between Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin and David Lemieux on October 17th.

While names like Giovani Segura and Brian Viloria have been kicked around, it appears that Puerto Rico's McWilliams Arroyo (16-2, 14 KO) is leading the pack to land the Gonzalez (43-0, 37KOs) shot. Arroyo would add some Puerto Rican flavor to the show and may attract some fans in the heavy Puerto Rican market of New York City.

"We confirmed the date and place, effectively Roman fight will happen on October 17 at Madison Square Garden in New York. That is something special and historic for him," said Carlos Blandon, manager of the successful fighter, to ESPN Deportes.

"We continue to negotiate with opponents, whether it's Giovani Segura, Brian Viloria or McWilliams Arroyo, and the one that accepts the offer will be the next opponent of Roman. Surely God will provide us with the one who is most suitable."
