Golden Boy Promotions are still putting together the final details for their goal to promote a regular series of shows in the UK. Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer told British boxing scribe Steve Bunce of The Sunday Herald that he plans to go forward with the opening of a "Golden Boy UK" office in England.
“The fans in Britain are great fans, the best out there and they have so much passion and knowledge. This is a place where we will be promoting and I will be setting up an office soon,” Schaefer
To get things running quick, Golden Boy will use the promotional companies of David Haye and Ricky Hatton to gain a local following for their product. Haye and Hatton are under contract with Golden Boy as fighters. The plan is for Golden Boy to promote shows on a quarterly basis and then begin promoting shows every month using their own fighters and talent from Hatton and Haye.
“I will be spending a lot of time in Britain,” confirmed Schaefer. “We will work with Ricky Hatton’s prom-otional company and David Haye’s company to establish a following for our regular shows. We will be promoting, probably quarterly at first but then monthly. It will be a great place for our boxers to be seen.”
