Although the fight has been mentioned several times in the press, trainer Fiodor Lapin, who heads the corner of WBO cruiserweight champion Krzysztof Glowacki (25-0, 16 KOs), is not in favor of having his boxer defend the belt against former four division world champion Roy Jones Jr. (62-8, 45 KOs).

Jones has been staying very active and was hoping to face Marco Huck before the year was over. Last month Huck upset Glowacki with a knockout victory to capture the title. Jones was ringside for the match and called out Glowacki afterwards.

"I do not know how the promoters look at it, but I am opposed to such a fight. Jones is a legend, he was once a great boxer, but that [was a long time ago]," the trainer said.

Lapin is in favor of granting Huck a rematch. The fight, which aired on Premier Boxing Champions in the United States, was a fight filled with action, drama and knockdowns. Many are calling it a Fight of The Year contender.

"That would be interesting. However you want to slice it, Huck was a very good champion. In my opinion, a champion of this class should be able to have a rematch. The contract, however, did not possess such a clause, because it was a mandatory title defense. Also, the promoters will probably not be interested in the fight," Lapin said.
