Unbeaten junior middleweight prospect Glen Tapia has withdrawn from a fight scheduled for Saturday night in Atlantic City due to an illness.

Tapia (10-0, 5 KOs), of Passaic, N.J., was going to participate in a six-round bout against an undetermined opponent. Once he caught the flu and couldn’t completely commit to training, though, his handlers stopped looking for an opponent and decided that he’ll box next on Sept. 16 in South Bend, Ind.

The 21-year-old Tapia, who’s promoted by Top Rank, will fight that night on a card that’ll feature Chicago’s Mike Lee (6-0, 4 KOs), a Notre Dame alum, in the main event at Notre Dame’s Joyce Center.

Matchmakers for Top Rank are still seeking foes for Tapia and Lee. None of the fights on that card will be televised.

Had he boxed Saturday night at Bally’s Events Center, Tapia’s fight probably would’ve been broadcast by FOX Deportes and FOX Sports Net. Those networks televised Tapia’s last fight, a six-round unanimous decision defeat of Dallas’ Taronze Washington (14-16, 7 KOs, 2 NC) on June 25 in Philadelphia.

FOX’s “Top Rank Live” main event Saturday night will pit Philadelphia’s Teon Kennedy (17-0-1, 7 KOs) against Mexico’s Alejandro Lopez (21-2, 7 KOs). Kennedy and Lopez will fight for the NABA super bantamweight title in that 12-rounder.
