BoxingScene.com has confirmed with Glen Johnson's co-promoters, Lou DiBella and Leon Margules, that several published reports about their boxer facing Carl Froch on May 21 at the O2 Arena in London - are "100% erroneous."
Johnson will challenge Froch for the WBC super middleweight in a Super Six semi-final bout on May 21. As previously reported on BoxingScene.com, WBA heavyweight champion David Haye will defend his title on the same date at the O2 Arena. Sky Sports, who plan to carry Haye's fight on pay-per-view, have expressed their interest in combining the two fights because they want to avoid Haye's pay-per-view going head to head with Froch vs. Johnson.
To date, nobody from Sky Sports has contacted Margules or DiBella to discuss the possibility of Froch-Johnson being a co-feature to Haye's next fight. Even if Sky puts an offer on the table, all three promoters [DiBella, Margules, and Froch's promoter Mick Hennessy] and Showtime, would have to reach an agreement on the move.
