On the undercard to Paulie Malignaggi-Herman Ngoudjo at the Bally's Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City, former light heavyweight champion Glen Johnson (47-11-2, 32KOs) stopped Hugo Pineda (39-4-1, 28KOs) in eight rounds. After dropping Pineda in the seventh, he battered him in the eight to force the stoppage.
Johnson now moves in position to fight WBC light heavyweight champion Chad Dawson on April 12.
Lovemore Ndou (46-9-1, 31KOs), back in the ring for the first time since losing his IBF junior welterweight title to Malignaggi last June, stopped Rafael Ortiz (14-12-2, 13KOs) in the seventh round.
Ndou still has a rematch owed by Malignaggi, per the terms of their June 07 fight contract. He could still try to enforce that rematch at some point. The problem is that none of the US networks are interested in televising the fight. The appearance of Ndou on the undercard to Malignaggi's mandatory defense is a sure sign of an alternative deal being cut between Ndou's team and Lou DiBella, promoter of Malignaggi.
