Junior lightweight Giovanni Mioletti remained unbeaten Saturday night, breaking down Headley Scott before the fight was stopped in round seven at the Emerald Queen Casino in Tacoma, Washington.
Mioletti (14-0, 5 knockouts) has now stopped three of his last four opponents.
It was all Mioletti from the opening bell, as the 24-year-old from Chicago landed the more-effective punches. Any offense Scott attempted to mount would be halted by a series of combinations Mioletti would land.
Scott looked discouraged as the bout progressed into the later rounds, especially in round six when a punch by Mioletti opened a cut over his right eye.
The end of the fight came a round later. Mioletti battered Scott throughout the round, prompting Scott's corner to throw in the towel at 2:27 to save their fighter from taking too much punishment.
Mioletti has so far passed the eye-test and looks like a decent prospect at 130 pounds.
Scott, who resides in Jonesboro, Georgia, suffers his first defeat as a pro, falling to 11-1 1 NC, 10 KOs.
In the co-feature, junior welterweight Marcos Cardenas scored a fourth round knockout win over Jorge Linares (4-3, 3 KOs) of nearby Edmonds.
Cardenas of Salem, Oregon, improves to 7-7-1, 3 KOs.
Featherweight Juan Gomez, 19-year-old from Yakima, Washington, notched a split-decision win over Carlos Hernandez, who was making his pro debut.
One judge scored the bout 40-36 in favor of Hernandez, while the other two judges scored the bout 39-37 for Gomez, who improves to 3-0, 2 KOs.
The fight card was promoted by longtime area promoter Brian Halquist.
