Rosarito, BC .- Two multiple world champions top the event - "Viva Mexico - promoted by Zanfer Promotions on Thursday at the Ernesto Ruffo Gym in Rosarito, and televised by TV Azteca and Fox Sports.
Former world WBA and WBO champion, Giovani "Aztec Warrior" Segura (28-1-1, 24 KOs), will face Colombia's Luis Carlos Leon (13-4-0, 11 KOs) in a scheduled 10-round bout at flyweight.
"This fight is very important to me because it will be a tough test against a fighter with great punching power and stamina, but I want to prove that I'm ready for a title shot at flyweight. I want to go face to face with Brian Viloria (WBO champ) before the end of this year, "said Segura.
"Fighting on the Commemoration of the Independence of Mexico is a very significant date for very Mexican and I will provide a great fight. I hope to see the auditorium filled with cries of Viva Mexico from the public.
In the co-feature, another former world champion, Mexico's Julio Cesar "Pingo" Miranda (35-6-1, 26 KOs) will face another Colombian, Deivis Perez (14-4-2, 8 KOs) in a 10 bout at flyweight.
"I want to regain the title that Viloria took from me in Hawaii. I won that fight, but now I have win on Thursday in Rosarito and regain my world championship, or go up to super flyweight for another chance," Miranda said.
The event is a free card for the fans and the card begins at 4:30 pm and includes four fights other bouts.
