GARDEN BELL, CALIFORNIA - Giovani Segura entered the final week of his preparation, where he's looking to sharpen his power, endurance and speed and for his rematch against Ivan "Iron Boy" Calderon. The "Aztec Warrior" Segura (26-1-1, 22 KOs), who is the WBO junior flyweight champion, defends against "Iron Boy" Calderon (34-1-1, 6 KOs) on Saturday April 2 in the Auditorium of the State of Mexicali, in a co-promotion by Zanfer, PR Best Boxing and in coordination with Municipality of Mexicali and it will be broadcast by TV Azteca Mexico and elsewhere on pay-per-view.
Segura grabbed the title from Calderón last August in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico, knocking him out in the eighth round and breaking his unbeaten record. The rematch on April 2 will be on Mexican soil, specifically in the capital of Baja California. To do this, Segura has conducted an intensive preparation with demanding gym sparring sessions with fighters who are technical and elusive, to use as a strategy against the "Iron Boy" in their fight.
Segura completed his training this week and this Sunday will move by road to the headquarters of the combat, Mexicali, where Calderon is expected to arrive on Monday to close preparation and do some promotional commitments.
