MAZATLÁN, México.- Two weeks have passed since his last fight, and Gilberto "Zurdo" Ramirez (31-0, 24 KOs) is ready to return to the gym and get back on track for his goal of winning a world championship.

Ramirez does not like to stay away from the gym for long periods of time and was ordered by his trainer Jesus Zapari to take two weeks off. During the two weeks, all Ramirez has been thinking about is boxing and watching videos of fights.

"On Monday I will report back to the gym to start moving forward. We still have no date, but I want to be ready for the time when my manager and [Top Rank] schedules one for us. So that way we don't start our preparation from scratch," Ramirez said.

Ramirez was tested tough in his last fight with Russian boxer Maxim Vlasov.

"The Russian Vlasov is the toughest opponent I've faced. Fights like the one I had against him are the ones where I will grow, because they teach us and show us the things to correct and improve," reflected Ramirez.

In 2014 he was very active and took part in four bouts, three of them as the leading figure. And he hopes to repeat that schedule in 2015.

"Let's see what happens, my job is to fight and to prepare myself for that. We do important things in boxing and fighting often helps us reach our goals faster," he concluded.
