Hector Zapari of Zapari Boxing Promotions has advised BoxingScene.com that up and coming middleweight prospect Gilberto Ramirez Sanchez (26-0) will return to the ring on December 7th on the undercard of the rematch between Roberto Marroquin (23-3) and Daniel Diaz (20-5-1) that takes place at the WinStar Casino in Thackerville, Oklahoma. The main event will be televised by UniMas.
Zapari, who manages and trains Ramirez along with his father, said that the 6'2.5" 22-year-old would like to get a crack at Marco Antonio Rubio early in 2014 for a shot at the interim WBC middleweight title. Sergio Martinez holds the full title but has been out of the ring with injuries since his April victory over Martin Murray.
Rubio is currently ranked as the #1 contender by the WBC and Ramirez is ranked #4.
