Rest can wait. Gilberto Ramirez (36-0, 24 KOs) wants to quickly return to the gym to get back into a ring, before the end of the year, and maintain the streak that positions him as one of the world's youngest unbeaten champions.

The WBO super middleweight champion is focused on keeping his guard up in search of the best challenge available, so he knows that he must be in excellent condition in the event that opportunity comes up.

"I do not like being very away from the gym, I'm always active and I try to remain in good shape, because I know that an opportunity can come at any time and I do not want to give away any advantages, so I'll rest for a week and I'll go back to work," Ramirez said in an interview with Erika Montoya.

The 26-year-old fighter is coming off a tough decision win over undefeated mandatory challenger Jessie Hart of Philadelphia.

He nearly finished Hart off in the first half of the contest, but Hart recovered, continued to fight and rallied in the late rounds.

Ramirez said that he was proud of what he showed in the ring against a very difficult fighter.

"In boxing you never stop learning, and Hart showed me a new look. His style was much more lively and active than the last two opponents, but with work and previous reviews of him we knew that the punches down below would be a good tool to hurt him," added Ramirez.

Ramirez would love to fight in December in a unification with either IBO champion Chris Eubank Jr. or James DeGale.

"I want to be as active as possible. I would love to return in December against top opponent who is available, because I am not afraid of anyone; I am a champion and I want to prove it, but if I had to choose - I would go against Chris Eubank Jr. or James DeGale and I don't care if I had to travel to England to land the fight," said Ramirez.
