BoxingScene.com has been advised by Hector Zapari of Zapari Boxing Promotions that undefeated middleweight prospect Gilberto Ramirez Sanchez (25-0) will face Julio Cesar Garcia (46-8) on August 17th in Laredo, Texas on UniMAS' popular series Solo Boxeo. Garcia will be Ramirez's most experienced opponent to date. Juan Diaz faces Adailton DeJesus in the main event. Ramirez is co-promoted by Zapari, Top Rank and Zanfer. Hector Zapari said that if his fighter defeats Garcia there is a good chance he will appear on the Manny Pacquiao-Brandon Rios undercard.

An article that appeared on BoxingScene earlier today said that the WBC ordered the #4 ranked Ramirez to face the #3 ranked Domenico Espada in a final elimination to become the mandatory challenger of the interim challenger. The WBC also ordered Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. to face Marco Antonio Rubio for the interim title. Sergio Martinez is the full champion but was injured in his April fight against Martin Murray and won't likely return until next spring.
