The "Ghost" is back, featherweight Robert Guerrero (18-1-1, 11KOs) avenged his only loss when he stopped Gamaliel Diaz (20-6-2, 9 KOs) in six rounds at the Oakland Arena in Oakland, California.
Guerrero got off to a fast start by rocking Diaz within seconds of the first round, and later dropping him twice during the round. The first knockdown was more of a push as Diaz was on bad legs, but the second came from what appeared to be a shot right to the side of Diaz's body.
After the initial round, the two fighters began to fight at a rapid pace at close range for the next few rounds. Just when it appeared that Diaz was starting to take over the fight and Guerrero was slowing down, an uppercut right to the gut sent Diaz down the floor on both knees.
It was pretty clear that Diaz would not be able to get up when he spit out his mouthpiece, as the ref counted him out. Prior to this bout, Diaz had never even tasted the canvas, and was riding a five year/19 fight win steak.
