With Teofimo Lopez having his May 2 fight confirmed with Arnold Barboza, that leaves IBF 140lbs champion Richardson Hitchins looking for a new dance partner.
His dance card, however, could be filled if Australian George Kambosos comes through Daud Yordan on March 22.
Kambosos and Yordan will fight in Sydney, while Hitchens defeated Kambosos’ fellow Australian Liam Paro to win his title in December.
“If he gets through Daud Yordan, I think it'll be Kambosos for Hitchins in New York in June,” said promoter Eddie Hearn. “I think, because Paro lost his world title, it’s not really a fight that George is really interested in. He wanted Paro for the world title, but he’s got his mindset on becoming a two-division champion. He thinks he can beat Hitchins. It’s a very tough fight, but it’s got good spice between those two as well.
“George has got spice with everybody, but those two have been going at it on social media and stuff like that.”
