George Foreman III (3-0, 3 KOs) of Houston, TX over Marvin Ray Jones (15-15-2, 11 KOs) of Tyler, TX by TKO at 1:55 of the 1st round.
Fight fans from Louisiana and Texas, as well as non-fight fans curious about the famous offspring, came out to witness the iconic George Foreman’s third son in his third professional “boxing” match. At the same location as his debut, Monk Foreman entered the ring looking to build upon his progress as a fighter. Put in front of him was 46 year old Marvin Ray Jones. Jones had suffered first round knockouts the three previous times he entered the ring, and didn’t look to have any plans of breaking that streak.
Monk stalked Jones to begin the bout and without a punch landing, Jones slipped to the canvas. Foreman was then able to land an overhand right to the top of Marvin’s head which dropped the elderly fighter, who wasn’t hurt enough to not rise before the ten count. The referee called for the action to continue and Jones reluctantly stepped forward. Then while on a wide circular retreat, Jones back foot landed on the edge of the ring apron as Monk attempted to land a punch. Jones fell to the canvas and the referee called an end to the match. The fans loudly booed the lack of effort from Jones.
