Junior
lightweight Francisco Vargas will fight Genaro Camargo at the Salon Las Palmas
in Pesqueria, Nuevo Leon, Mexico on Saturday night, manager Joel De La Hoya
confirmed to Boxingscene.com on Monday night.
The fight will be a stay-busy eight round bout for Vargas, who has had a breakout year in 2014.
Vargas
(20-0-1, 14 KOs) won a 10 round unanimous decision over Abner Cotto on March 8
and impressively won by technical knockout over Juan Manuel Lopez on July 12.
The
29-year-old Mexican Olympian is promoted by Golden Boy Promotions.
Camargo
(44-17, 34 KOs) was knocked out in his last bout on September 27 at the hands
of Romulo Koasicha. His most impressive win was two years ago, when he stopped
Ruben Tamayo in the fifth round. Tamayo will challenge Jesus Cuellar for his
world title belt next Saturday.
The
fight card on Saturday will be co-promoted by Golden Boy Promotions and Canelo
Promotions.
In the
12 round main event, flyweight Armando Santos (14-3-1, 8 KOs) will fight John
Riel Casimero (20-2, 12 KOs). Lightweight Robert Manzanarez (28-1, 24 KOs) will
fight Hector Velazquez (56-23-3, 38 KOs) in a 10 round bout and super
bantamweight Adan Mares (12-0-1, 3 KOs), the brother or Abner Mares, will fight
Miguel Angel Gonzalez Piedras (22-6-1, 12 KOs) in an eight round bout.
Televisa will televise in Mexico and Fox Sports Deportes will broadcast in the United States.
