Junior flyweight Jesus "Blade" Geles admits he made a fatal mistake by standing his ground to trade punches with Ramón García in Saturday's clash for the 108-pound title of the World Boxing Organization. From the start of their rematch, Geles stood in the center of the ring to trade blows, which is something very different from the strategy he planned with his coach, Martin Valdez.
Geles said he felt dizzy when the fight began and looked for a quick exit by trading hard punches. Garcia knocked him out in four. Geles won their first meeting by split decision. The strategy by his coach, was to stick and move.
“I stopped because I felt dizzy in the first round. I couldn't figure out what was wrong and I began to exchange punches with him," said Geles to Carlos Vazquez. "I was wrong to do that, but I'm young (23 years) and I'm sure that I'll be crowned champion again."
