IBF middleweight champion Daniel Geale will make the first defence of his title at the Hobart’s Dewert Entertainment Centre in Tasmania against veteran Nigerian Eromosele Albert. The date of August 31st had already been confirmed by WBN on June 23rd and now the fight has been officially announced.

Geale, 30, claimed the 160lb title in a shock victory over tough German Sebastian Sylvester in May and promised that he would return to his homeland to defend it. He now meets the 36 year-old Florida-based African, who has four losses in 29 bouts, as he looks to put on a show for his home fans.

‘Bad Boy’ Albert was knocked out in just 66 seconds by James Kirkland in 2008 and hasn’t done anything since which would constitute a world title shot. I am sure that Albert will turn up willing and go home defeated and then hopefully Geale will then move on to some tougher opposition in the future.
