IBF middleweight champion Daniel Geale (29-1, 15KOs) is not convinced about hype revolving around the WBA/IBO's champion Gennady Golovkin (27-0, 24KOs). Geale defends his title this Saturday against Darren Barker in Atlantic City. Golovkin was Geale's mandatory challenger earlier this year, but the Australian boxer took another direction and accepted a more lucrative fight against Anthony Mundine. If Geale wins this weekend, HBO would be very interested in a unification showdown with Golovkin.
"Golovkin has done very well. Everyone who's been put in front of him, he's been able to take out. You can't ask for more than that. He definitely has question marks, whether he fights that well later into a fight - because he's never been tested. That's one thing that has to be said. He's done what he's had to do so far. He's earned that recognition. It's about time that he steps up against someone who will take it to him and not be scared of him. Most of the guys who jump in with him and are worried about his power and worried about getting hit," Geale told BoxingScene.com.
