Gary Shaw, promoter of Diego Corrales, has announced to the media at the weigh-in for his fighter's anticipated battle with Jose Luis Castillo, that the fight is off. Castillo failed to make weight on two occassions, stepping on the scales at 140 pounds the first time, and 139.5 the second time. Castillo was given two hours to lose two pounds, but before the two hours were up - Shaw announced that the fight would not go forward.
The feeling from the Corrales camp is that Castillo would have an unfair advantage in the fight by not having to strain like Corrales to make 135 pounds. Shaw said that they will not risk a replay of what happened to Corrales in the second bout.
