At Club Nokia in Los Angeles, California, junior lightweight Gary Russell Jr. (11-0, 8 KOs) destroyed former champion Mauricio Pastrana (35-15-2, 23 KOs) in under two minutes of the first round. The ref jumped in to call it once Russell got him in trouble.
Bantamweight contender Nestor Rocha (22-1, 8 KOs) stopped Benji Garcia (14-16-3, 1 KO) in the second round with a hook to the body. Rocha gets one in the win column after being blown out in one round by then-WBC champion Hozumi Hasegawa last July. Hasegawa was recently knocked out by WBO champion Fernando Montiel in a unification bout.
Junior welterweight Oscar Andrade (2-0, 1 KO) won a four round unanimous decision over Ramon Valadez (1-1). The scores were 39-37 across by the judges for Andrade.
