BoxingScene.com recently caught up with elite trainer Robert Garcia whose stable of fighters includes Brandon Rios, Mikey Garcia, Marcos Maidana, and many others.
Rios (33-2-1, 24KOs) recently took to his Twitter account to call out IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook who looked sensational in his fourth round knockout victory over Jo Jo Dan on March 28th. Rios was last in action in January when he steamrolled Mike Alvarado in their rubber match.
Garcia is on board with the Brook fight and feels it would be especially big in the UK. He wanted to make it clear though that Rios has many other options and pointed to Top Rank's stable of fighters in and around the 147 pound division which includes Tim Bradley, Juan Manuel Marquez, Jessie Vargas, Jose Benavidez, Mikael Zewski and others.
"We would love that opportunity. Brandon fights anyone. He is not afraid of nobody. Cameron Dunkin is working on that. If Kell Brook doesn't come through I know there are a lot of fighters with Top Rank that would be more than happy to fight Brandon Rios. You got Timothy Bradley, the kid that just won the WBA title - (Jose) Benavides. There are so many options for Brandon. Our first choice is definitely Kell Brook because it is a title fight and he is a big name. It is a big fight in England," Garcia told BoxingScene.com.
Brook plans on having an active 2015 campaign and recently stated that he wants to fight two more times before the end of the summer.
