BoxingScene.com recently spoke to WBO super featherweight champion Mikey Garcia (34-0) who is currently in litigation with his promoter Top Rank.  Garcia feels that his contract isn't valid and that he should be a free agent.  He said that there aren't any updates in regards to his case.

"Nothing yet.  We are just playing the waiting game.  I want to be back in the ring as soon as possible but we are still working things out.  We are waiting to see if they offer me something," Garcia stated.

The 26-year-old two-division champion said that he prefers to stay with Top Rank, who has promoted him his entire career, but that he wants a deal that he feels is fair for both sides.

"I want to have a better situation with them.  I want them to offer me something better that I am happy with so we can work together.  If they can't do that for me then hopefully they will let me know and we can move on.  If it takes 5 or 6 months for that to happen then I will wait.  I need to take care of this first.  I am not just looking at one fight.  I am looking at my future.  I want to have options available," Garcia told BoxingScene.com.
