MGM Grand, Las Vegas - Marcos Maidana's trainer Robert Garcia confirmed to Boxingscene.com that 8 ounce gloves will indeed be used on Saturday night when Maidana faces Floyd Mayweather in a rematch of their May bout.
There was some confusion because the contract that the Nevada State Athletic Commission issued stated that 10 ounce gloves would be used. Garcia said that was simply a typo in the contract and would be corrected.
"We are using 8 ounce gloves. That I know for sure. There was a mistake on the contract but the Commission confirmed that 8 ounce gloves would be used and that it was just a mistake in the contract," said Garcia.
