Argentinian Hugo Garay and Ukrainian Yuri Barashian clash for the vacant WBA light heavyweight title on July 3 at the classic Luna Park in Buenos Aires, writes notifight. A fight between two worthy contenders: Garay gave current WBO titleholder Zsolt Erdei two very close fights and could well have been declared the winner in at least one of them. Barashian beat Thomas Ulrich in his last outing to win the EBU belt. 
 
Italian jr. middleweight Tobia Loriga, quickly back after the loss to JC Chavez, Jr,  defends the national jr. middleweight title against Salvatore Annunziata on June 13 in Crotone.
 
Former EBU bantamweight champ Luis Romero has passed away at the age of 86 in Barcelona, writes Espabox. Romero was a pro from the early 40´s through 1958 and won the European title in 1949. He was a southpaw with a dynamite left hand but was very short for his weight division. Romero also challenged for the world title but lost to South African Vic Toweel. Luis also split two fights with fellow Spanish all-time great Fred Galiana.
 
SES demands a rematch inside 120 days between WBO ruler Sergei Dzinziruk and challenger Lukas Konecny and today at a press conference in Magdeburg SES´ boss Ulf Steinforth gave Konecny a symbolic world title belt. Dzinziruk got a close, majority decision over the Czech April 26 in Dresden.
 
German tabloid Bild Zeitung writes today that Universum has booked the Porsche Arena in Stuttgart for September 27 - it could well be the venue for the WBC eliminator between heavies Vladimir Virchis and Juan Carlos Gomez.
 
EE-EU middleweight champ Vedran Akrap defends the title against Russian Alexey Chirkov on May 20 in Zagreb, Croatia.
