On Saturday night, middleweight contender Gabriel Rosado came out on the short end of a split decision against J'Leon Love. The fight was close and Rosado received the nod 95-94 on one card but that score was overruled by the other two cards that were a reasonable 95-94 for Love and a ridiculous 97-92. Rosado obviously felt he should have been awarded the victory.
"I thought I did what I had to do to win the fight. I applied pressure. I dropped him in one round. I hurt him in a few rounds. At the end of the day I don't know what the judges are looking at but it is what it is," Rosado told BoxingScene.com.
The fighter of Puerto Rican descent said that he wanted to finish Love off but that the crafty undefeated prospect would grab and hold to buy time. He said that he wasn't able to get his punches off exactly the way he wanted to.
"Whenever he was hurt and stumbling he would grab. There were a couple of times I wanted to let loose but he would hold," Rosado explained.
Rosado hopes to be back in the ring sooner than later. Before the fight he said that he felt more comfortable in the middleweight division after campaigning as a super welterweight for most of his career. Afterwards he said that he just wanted big fights and that he would be open to a title shot in either division.
"I am a throw back fighter. I will fight at 54 or 60. If guys want to fight at 60 I will do that. If they want to fight down at 54 I will do that.
"Honestly I just want to fight. I think I deserve a shot at a world title. The fans and the media thought I won so I think I deserve that world title shot," said Rosado.
