Gabe Rosado has an interesting perspective on Saturday night's WBA/IBO/IBF middleweight unification bout between Gennady "GGG" Golovkin and David Lemieux, which takes place from the Madison Square Garden in New York.
Rosado is one of two common opponents for the hard punching middleweight champions. The other is Marco Antonio Rubio, who scored a seventh round TKO of Lemieux in 2011. Golovkin easily stopped Rubio in two rounds last October.
Rosado was last seen in the ring last December, when he got stopped by Lemieux (34-2, 31KOs) in ten rounds. In January of 2013, he was halted in seven by Golovkin (33-0, 30KOs).
"I give the edge to Triple G. I feel like it's a fight that could go either way. I think Triple G is technically sound, knows how to switch his speed, switch his power up. I think Lemieux pretty much telegraphs everything and he's going to come aggressively and I think 'Triple G' adapts better," stated Rosado.
Both can punch, but it might be the precision and versatility of Golovkin that is the difference.
"They both got power," says Rosado. "I wouldn't say one is stronger than the other but it's about how do you use your power and I think the thing with Lemieux is everything comes hard so it's easy to kinda catch his shots. Triple G switches up his speed and power."
