Welterweight contender Gabriel Bracero (24-2, 5KOs) scored another knockout over weekend, but this time it wasn't in the ring.
According to several reports in New York, Bracero allegedly beat up a New York City police sergeant during a traffic stop in Chinatown around 3 a.m. Sunday.
Bracero was pulled over after making an illegal U-turn. After searching the boxer who they claim was acting suspicious, and found a pill bottle containing marijuana.
When they tried to take him into custody, court records state that Bracero allegedly fought back and drilled the sergeant, separating his shoulder and chipping his elbow.
Once Bracero was arrested, they searched his vehicle and found two gravity knives and brass knuckles in his trunk.
It's not the first arrest for Bracero. He has 12 prior arrests dating from 1995, including for his role in an armed robbery. Bracero turned to boxing after leaving prison in 2008.
Bracero was charged with assault, criminal possession of a weapon, obstructing government administration and resisting arrest.
The boxer has been out of the ring since scoring a brutal one-punch knockout in his rematch with Danny O'Connor last October in Massachusetts.
