Former Prizefighter finalist Coleman Barrett may be the only option on the table if Tyson Fury wants to fulfil his dream of fighting for the Irish heavyweight title in Belfast this September.

The 28 year-old was the last man to claim the title in February 2010 and may now be offered the fight after Martin Rogan turned down a huge offer to meet the new title holder.

‘Rogie’ has already stated that he believes Barrett has been contacted by Fury’s team and the British and Commonwealth champion may be left with no other option for his bout on the 17th at the King’s Hall as number two heavyweight Kevin McBride is on a run of losses.

Fury, 22, claimed both titles from Dereck Chisora in July and immediately announced his intention to fight for the Irish version and fulfil his dream. Galway’s Barrett, who has just one loss in fourteen, represents the only sellable opponent for an Irish contest and if he turns it down, the Manchester-born champion may just defend his British and Commonwealth belts.
