Tyson Fury left his home country to fight for the heavyweight championship. And though he’ll be bringing his belts back to the United Kingdom, he’s quite willing to go back to the land where he defeated Wladimir Klitschko.
“It doesn’t really matter to me where I fight. If you say I’m fighting in Japan, Turkey, Azerbaijan, America, wherever it has to be, it has to be. I’d like to come back to Germany again to fight Wladimir,” Fury said from a room at the ESPRIT Arena in Dusseldorf. “I enjoyed it. I got a great reception from the German fans. The German people really did show me some love, and I just hope I entertained. I tried my best to entertain the people, and I hope everybody who watched it enjoyed it just as much as I did performing.”
Fury had a sizable contingent of fans who traveled to see him. Their support was audible — including singing “There’s only one Tyson Fury” both in the Old City section of Dusseldorf on the Friday before the show as well as at the venue.
This was Fury’s fourth time fighting outside of the United Kingdom. He’s had bouts in Ireland, Canada, the United States and now Germany. While he no doubt would enjoy defending at home, Klitschko is such a huge star in Germany. The stadium, which hosts more than 50,000 for soccer games, had quite a large crowd. There’s plenty of money for Fury in coming back, and if he wins again there’ll be plenty of money waiting for him back home.
The where and the when will be determined.
