FS1 will replay FOX’s most competitive and least competitive pay-per-view main events of 2019 as part of a boxing marathon Thursday.
The closely contested Manny Pacquiao-Keith Thurman and Errol Spence Jr.-Shawn Porter welterweight title fights will be among the five main events FS1 will air again Thursday. FOX’s all-sports cable channel also will replay Spence’s lopsided victory over Mikey Garcia.
An encore presentation of Pacquiao’s split-decision defeat of the previously unbeaten Thurman will air at 9 a.m. ET/PT.
The Philippines’ Pacquiao (62-7-2, 39 KOs) knocked down Thurman (29-1, 22 KOs, 1 NC) in the first round and beat him on two of three scorecards in an action-packed battle July 20 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Judges Tim Cheatham and Dave Moretti each scored that fight 115-112 for the 40-year-old Pacquiao, but judge Glenn Feldman had it 114-113 for Thurman, of Clearwater, Florida.
Pacquiao captured the WBA “super” 147-pound title from Thurman.
Spence-Garcia will be replayed at 6 p.m. ET/PT.
Spence (26-0, 21 KOs) dominated Garcia (40-1, 30 KOs) in their 12-round fight for Spence’s IBF welterweight crown last March 16 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Each judge scored all 12 rounds for Spence, who won 120-108, 120-108 and 120-107.
Garcia moved up two weight classes, from 135 pounds to 147, to challenge Spence.
FS1’s marathon will begin at 6 a.m. ET/PT with a replay of Porter-Yordenis Ugas. It’ll continue at 8 a.m. ET/PT with a rebroadcast of Garcia’s 12-round, unanimous-decision win against Sergey Lipinets.
Six months before Porter lost to Spence, the former IBF and WBC champion edged Ugas in a highly competitive clash last March 9 at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California.
The Cuban-born Ugas (25-4, 12 KOs) topped Porter on the scorecard of judge Zachary Young, who scored nine rounds for Ugas (117-111). He was overruled by judges Max De Luca (115-113) and Steve Morrow (116-112), both of whom scored Porter the winner against Ugas in a fight FOX televised.
Garcia, of Oxnard, California, became a four-weight world champion when he dropped Kazakhstan’s Lipinets (16-1, 12 KOs) in the seventh round and out-pointed him unanimously to win the IBF junior welterweight title in March 2018 at Freeman Coliseum in San Antonio.
After a boxing break during which FS1 will air other programming Thursday, the network will replay Spence-Porter at 3 p.m. ET/PT.
Spence and Porter produced once of the most memorable bouts of 2019 on September 28 at Staples Center in Los Angeles. The left-handed Spence dropped Porter in the 11th round and won their back-and-forth, 12-round battle on two of three scorecards.
Judges Rey Danesco (116-111) and Steve Weisfeld (116-111) scored their fight for Spence (26-0, 21 KOs), who retained his IBF welterweight title and took the WBC belt from Las Vegas’ Porter (30-3-1, 17 KOs). Judge Larry Hazzard Jr. scored Porter the victor versus Spence (115-112) in the main event of a FOX Sports Pay-Per-View telecast.
