A few days ago, WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch officially confirmed that he broke away from longtime promoter Mick Hennessy of Hennessy Sports. Froch announced his free agent status to the UK media. He also disclosed his plan to promote himself for the two remaining bouts in the Super Six tournament. He returns on June 4 in Atlantic City against Glen Johnson in the Super Six semi-finals. Froch never made any indications on whether or not he plans to sign with a new promoter.
"I'm no longer working with my representative Mick Hennessy." confirmed Froch to livefight.com. "My next two fights are already mapped out within the Super Six tournament. I am just soley concentrating right now on beating the likes of Glencoffe Johnson and hopefully Andre Ward."
Hennessy, who promoted Froch since he turned professional nine years ago, has refused to make any comments regarding the split. But based on his most recent quote to the British press, a possible legal battle could be brewing with Froch.
"It's in the hands of the lawyers - it's not something I can talk about right now," Hennessy said.
