Retired super middleweight champion Carl Froch (33-2, 24KOs) has ridiculed the record of WBC/IBO/WBA/IBF middleweight king Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin (36-0, 33KOs).
Froch has not fought since May of 2014, when he knocked out George Groves before a record crowd of 80,000 people at Wembley Stadium. He officially announced his retirement from the sport in July of last year.
There were some discussions about a Froch vs. Golovkin fight in 2015. Froch decided to retire instead of taking the fight. He claims Golovkin refused to come up to an agreeable weight limit and demanded a catch-weight of 166-pounds.
The Nottingham fighter is not very impressed with Golvokin's record of wins - including the September fifth round stoppage of IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook.
Golovkin took to social media to hit back, telling Froch that he has no place to question what's credible.
"Hey you! Carl Froch, don't judge who is credible or not. You are another clown who talks too much without stepping up to actually do things," Golovkin wrote.
According to Froch, Golovkin's tweet was absurd when comparing their two records of work.
"He said some rubbish about me not fighting anybody and said something about my misses making all of the decisions which is ridiculous, absolutely ludicrous. I think there is a communication or a language barrier there, where he don't quite understand what he's saying or what's going off. Or someone on his Twitter page is tweeting for him. It don't make any sense," Froch told IFL TV.
"He said I never stepped up, never fought anybody and called me a clown. This is coming from a guy who's best wins are Martin Murray and Matthew Macklin. No disrespect to those two guys, but they are not world champions, they are not world-breaters. He knows how ludicrous and ridiculous that tweet was.
"I mean it, go and find somebody and beat somebody. And then go talk about yourself to your entourage and your followers, who love you and give you a regular polish.... [and they do it] really over the top with no justification."
