WBC super middleweight Carl Froch has told talkSPORT that David Haye’s broken toe should not be used as an excuse for his defeat to WBO/WBA/IBO/IBF heavyweight Wladimir Klitschko, who won a twelve round decision over the British star on Saturday night in Hamburg, Germany.

“Only David knows how much of a problem the toe was and how much it was affecting him. I can’t say it’s a lame excuse because it’s not my toe that’s broken and it’s not me that’s fighting. I don’t think he’s using that as a full excuse. Everybody could see what was going off in there so maybe he shouldn’t have mentioned it but he just felt he’d let people know about it," Froch said.

“You can see why the fans are almost thinking what is he talking about, why has he even mentioned it. I can see that side of it. I don’t think that was a deciding factor in the outcome of the fight.”
